Day Eighty-Nine

'Surprise Visitor'

There's a grouse that wanders around near our home and many times we've seen her (?) but I've never managed to grab the camera in time. But today...I did!

And she stayed to pose for quite a while too.

Also, am very very pleased it works well in b&w for my penultimate 'mono-March' shot!

Day Eighty-Eight

Ice cream. Because ice cream is always good!

An April Fool...?

Foolish I may be but I've decided to attempt another challenge for April.

Having almost completed my monotone month for March, I'm going to try and follow a challenge set on the 365 site where a different word has been given as a prompt for each day of the month.

A lot of the words have been chosen with various reasons behind them - like blue for Autism Awareness day - and others by random vote so it's quite the fun collection. For those words with reasons behind them, I'll explain them as they come up.

Let's see how I get on!

Day Eighty-Seven

We went to see 'Jesus Christ Superstar', in concert, tonight and it was spectacular. One of my favourite shows and the cast was superb!

It was also our first 'date night' since Rosie was born too so an awesome evening all round!

Day Eighty-Six

My tulips are opening!
Hoping they'll last until next week so I can share their sunny colour with you!

Day Eighty-Five

A drive-by kiss!
Not the most artistic of shots, but I love it!

Day Eighty-Four

What a lovely surprise I got this morning from my husband.
Ten beautiful yellow tulips and some chocolate.

...yeah...the chocolate didn't make it until the sun came out this afternoon so just tulips it is!

Day Eighty-Three

Sunday morning baking and playing with the piping bag set I got for Christmas.

They're not likely to win any prizes for appearance, not yet anyway, but they taste pretty darn good!

Day Eighty-Two

A piece of artwork I made with Evie when she was a few months old.
We're now in the middle of making a new one with the latest little member of the family, but a photo of that will wait until I'm sharing colour photos again!

Day Eighty-One

The sisters were 'reading' one of Evie's many princess story books but just as I was about to press the shutter Rosie looked right at me.

Too gorgeous a shot not to share!

Day Eighty

Wow! Eighty photos means eighty days of the project completed already!

And little Rosie is four months old today, it's gone so fast!

Day Seventy-Nine

'It's A Dog's Life'

I particularly love Heidi's slightly exasperated expression in this. Not sure she was a fan of having my lens at the end of her nose!

Day Seventy-Eight

When people meet Evie, one of the first things they comment on are her eyelashes.
They are insanely long!

...am quite jealous...!

Day Seventy-Seven

Evie loves 'reading' at the moment.
Obviously hoping this is something that will continue!

Lights! Camera! ACTION! (Part Two)

More photos from the amazing light show a couple of weeks back.

Day Seventy-Six

Today is St Patrick's Day and I needed a 'flash o' green' to include in today's shot.
Luckily the night sky obliged in awesome fashion!

I've finally finished editing the photos from a fortnight ago and have a few photos from tonight ready too so keep checking for more Aurora shots soon!

Day Seventy-Five

'On the mend'

Snapped this one of a slowly recovering Rosie and even if she's not quite well yet, it was too cute not to use!

Plus I rarely get to take low-key portraits so this was extra nice to include.

Day Seventy-Four

Managed my first moon shot back in January so thought I'd try to capture the crescent moon shining down on us at the moment. And definitely fitting with my 'Mono March' theme!

Looked for the comet that's supposedly visible right now but no sign...another day perhaps!

Day Seventy-Three

Evie's finally starting to feel better - hooray!

And a more healthy feeling little girl needs more entertaining and so today...it was Moomin shaped gingerbread!

Day Seventy-Two

Such beautiful eyes! I wonder what Rosie's making of things in the house this week!

Day Seventy-One

-21C outside today which is over 60 degrees lower than the fever temperatures raging in our house today!

Day Seventy

My 'Monochrome March' continues and this week features a 'flash o' green' for St Patrick's day which is at the end of the week.

Evie was playing a little today, in between sleeping through the fever that's creeping up again, and I spotted plenty of green to photograph!

Day Sixty-Nine

We're a house that seems to be getting sicker by the hour so a quick shot out of the door was all I managed.
Gorgeous light though. It's lovely to see the sun coming back.

Lights! Camera! ACTION! (Part One)

After, quite literally, months of scanning the night sky paid off last Friday night in spectacular fashion when we were treated to some pretty stunning Northern Lights and the first crystal clear skies in ages!

Here are the first of my favourite shots from that night's rather cold aurora hunt which took us North to Ii and then home via Kiiminki. More coming soon...

Day Sixty-Eight

A funky lamp.

Day Sixty-Seven

My little helper, looking after her little sister.

Day Sixty-Six

Fairy light bokeh, liked the spots of light against the skeletal trees.

Day Sixty-Five

A part of a broken headband.

Day Sixty-Four

Homemade shortbread fingers

Day Sixty-Three

Ten tiny fingers

Day Sixty-Two

 Some teeny tiny snowflakes

One of those weeks...

...where I've not done anything particularly memorable and yet Sunday has arrived and I've been too busy to update this little blog.

But!

I have my photos from this week all ready to share so get ready for some black and white shots from the last week.

I'm also still editing Northern Lights photos from last weekend too so will share some of those with you very soon too!

Day Sixty-One

Despite the urge to post one of the many Northern Lights photos I took in the early hours of this morning I will press on with my Mono-March and introduce you to Heidi (pronounced in the Finnish way so it rhymes with 'lady'), our 5 year old labrador. Although some of you reading might be very familiar with our crazy dog already!

And my final Get Pushed shot, taken at 55mm. It's been a fun and challenging week so thank you Katie from 365 for the great 'push'!

I'll be adding Northern Lights photos in a separate post for those wanting to see.

Day Sixty

...and so, with my sixtieth photo, 'Mono-March' begins!

A month of only posting black and white images lies ahead...which should be fun! Although I will be incorporating a 'flash of green/rainbow' for St Patrick's day so keep on the look out for that!

This is also the last photo in my week long challenge to keep the same focal length for the whole time. I managed it - almost - and it definitely made me use my camera differently. Which was kind of the point!

I also want to thank those few that have taken the time to comment on my posts here. I know some of you had issues and let me know via Facebook or other places that you'd been wanting to let me know you were following along and stopping by to check out my little project so thank you, a lot!
