Day One Hundred and Forty-Eight

Thistles

When we were in Scotland last month it was too early for the thistles but now there are plenty of purple flowers to enjoy!

Day One Hundred and Forty-Seven

One is cute...

...but there's definitely more than one!
I was wandering around my parents' garden looking for things to photograph and stumbled across a mass of caterpillars munching their way through the vegetation.

Having looked them up, apparently they're going to grow up to be a kind of fly (Solomon's Seal Sawfly for those interested) and they're definitely cuter in this stage of their development!!

Day One Hundred and Forty-Six

Feathered Friend

If I'm not mistaken, this is the same little chap I photographed back in February.
Keeping to the shadows though, definitely a wise choice on a day like this!
We also had a fluffy little fledgling sparrow hopping about too before the heat of the day grew too much to cope with.

Day One Hundred and Forty-Five

Foxgloves

I love foxgloves and managed to snap these pretty purple ones in my Dad's garden.
They always make me think of Beatrix Potter though, and Jemima Puddleduck!
Was nice to get into the shade for a little bit too! Still so hot!

Day One Hundred and Forty-Four

Beauty Queen

It was far too hot to do anything too strenuous at the Great Yorkshire Show but we still had a lovely time at the show, including meeting this impressive lady and another 'queen' in the form of the adorable 'Titch' - a competition cow hailing from the Highlands who was very cute and let Evie stroke her ears for ages!

We saw the Grand National winner, who won us a nice £100 or so pounds,

More cows than you can shake a stick at!

Even spotted a celebrity or two!

We saw some amazing farriers in competition too!

And Evie tried her hand at milking, which she was rather good at!

It was a great day and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone in Yorkshire in July looking for a fun day outside for all the family - there were so many displays, so many animals, so much to see...a day isn't really enough!

Day One Hundred and Forty-Three

Finished

This flower is finished for the summer but thought it made for a pretty shot.
The camera stayed away for most of today...trying to make the most of the marginally cooler weather before it returns tomorrow, when we'll be at the Great Yorkshire Show!
Animal piccies coming your way tomorrow I'm sure.

Wow!

I'm still some way from reaching the halfway point in this little project, sometime next month I should hit that marker I think, but the little statistic gremlins tell me that over 5,000 people have stopped by to look my photos now which is just mind blowing!

So, thank you!

Thank you for looking in and an even bigger thanks to those few who take the time to comment.

I'm doing this project primarily for me but it is always nice to know that people are enjoying my efforts so thank you very much!

When I do hit halfway I'll be asking those who stop by to pick their favourite image from my project so far, so get thinking! ;o)
