Day Fifty-Nine

It's the last day of February which means tomorrow I start 'Mono-March' - a month of only black and white photos (incorporating the idea of a 'Flash of Green/Rainbow' for St Patricks!)

So, with that in mind, I wanted something colourful.
Cue sleet and snow outside and nothing particularly inspiring indoors so when in doubt....look to fellow 365ers!

Not quite the shot I was going for but I liked the heart that randomly appeared in the middle.

Also part of my Get Pushed challenge for this week, sticking to the same focal length, shot at 55 mm.

Day Fifty-Eight

Such a gorgeous smile!

Still under the weather so another quickie shot for today.

This was supposed to be part of my Get Pushed challenge for the week which was "shooting at a single focal length for the entire week". But only just noticed I can't have turned all the way round to 55mm before I took it so this is at 49 mm. Damn! So close!

Day Fifty-Seven

Ten tiny toes...

My back is feeling lots better but now am suffering the effect of stomach flu. So, had to photograph what was within easy reach!

I should also mention that this is part of my Get Pushed challenge for the week which was "shooting at a single focal length for the entire week". So have been shooting at 55 mm, for those curious among you!

I also discovered that for some reason comments had been disabled so please...they should work now if, y'know, you feel like leaving me something. ;o)

Curious

Every day I post my photos and every day my little blogging counters clock up more visits, and from all over the world by all accounts, but I can't help but wonder who's dropping in every day.

This little blog hit the 2000 views mark some time back so I know there are people out there!

So, if you would oblige me...if you come and read this post...just leave a little comment, please.

It can be a smiley face or it can be actual words, why not tell me your favourite photo so far...or give me a suggestion for a future shot/theme/challenge...I don't mind, anything!

Just curious...

Day Fifty-Six

'Pain relief'

Well folks, this is pretty much how my day has shaped up.

My back went into spasm earlier today, the remnant of an old spinal  injury that flares up every now and then, so it's plenty of water, plenty of rest and plenty of pain relief.

On the positive side, I liked the light shining through the glass of water.

Day Fifty-Five

A pretty sunset.
Simply and lovely.

Day Fifty-Four

While looking for inspiration I found this little stitched detail on Rosie's new pyjamas.
Such a cute little elephant. Reminded me of that old joke...

"Last night I shot an elephant in my pyjamas.

How he got into my pyjamas I will never know!"

Day Fifty-Three

Another filler...crazy day yesterday meant I didn't touch my camera all day!

So it's another shot of the friendly robin from my parent's garden in the UK.

Day Fifty-Two

Rosie is three months old today!
Unbelievable how fast the time has gone.

After some thought I've also decided that this should be my 'Get Pushed' photo for this week. I was set the challenge of shooting something that inspires me. Little Rosie here was the inspiration for the whole project, the nudge that made me finally start one after years of procrastinating. Mark, the handsome chap holding her, inspires me lots too! <3

Day Fifty-One

'Home, sweet home!'

Made a little celebration cake to mark my home coming. Love baking with my little 'helper'!

Day Fifty

A filler for today as it's a day spent in airports and on planes with my camera safely stowed in a suitcase.

Took this in England. Made me laugh.

Day Forty-Nine

Today's my last day in the UK on this trip so I sat out in the cold to try and catch another birdy shot.

Luckily for me one of the resident blackbirds was only too happy to oblige me with some poses!

Day Forty-Eight

'Don't be nosey!'

I'm not around cats very often so thought I'd try get one while I had the chance.

Not sure my model was impressed with my efforts though.

Day Forty-Seven

'Signs of Spring'

Only a few days left here in the UK before I head back to snowy, snowy Finland.

Was lovely to walk around in the sunshine and even lovelier to find these little pink flowers hiding away in an otherwise dead looking bush!

Day Forty-Six

Sunset over the rooftops.

Day Forty-Five

Had a go at meeting my 'Get Pushed' challenge for this week - an urban decay shot.

This is an old church that's now used, unfrequently. I spotted these windows and snapped a quick shot.

Am sure from the inside they're far more beautiful but for me it was the carvings that caught my eye. I've walked past this church so many times and never noticed it before.

But, think that was the point... :o)

Day Forty-Four

'Generations'.

Rosie with her Great-Grandmother.

Day Forty-Three

Shrove Tuesday means only one thing - pancakes!

Not the most artistic of shots but they can't all be! ;o)

Day Forty-Two

Something a little abstract today, some pretty crystals hanging from a lovely lampshade.

Day Forty-One

A splash of colour today with a pretty, vibrant gerbera.

So excited...

At the official 365 website there are all sort of things to challenge you and inspire you and one of these is the 'Popular Page'.
To be featured here is a rare thing that most photographers on there only dream of doing during the course of their 365 project.

And today...my little robin was included!

I was so excited I almost cried!

I know it doesn't really mean anything, that it doesn't make me any better than anyone else on there. But to included with photographers that I would class as being professional has made me feel rather proud of myself.

Just wanted to share, to include it here, in case it never happens again!

And thanks, to you, for stopping by and reading my little moment of giddiness!

Day Forty

Here's my attempt at meeting my Get Pushed challenge this week with a High Key portrait. Which, for those not in the know, mean a bright portrait with little contrast that's usually featuring a happy, upbeat subject.

A smiley Rosie was a more than obliging model while I fiddled with my exposures!

Day Thirty-Nine

There's a very tame robin in my parents' garden.
I got this one of him sitting in the bushes just beyond their fence.

Page Thirty-Eight

Some shots of the bird life in and around my parent's garden for the next couple of days.

Here's a very cute long-tailed tit.

Day Thirty-Seven

'Home, sweet home'.

One of my favourite things in my parents' house here in Yorkshire is the fireplace.
So cosy and inviting and perfect on a blustery, snowy evening like tonight.

Day Thirty-Six

Was something of a rushed shot in amongst last minute packing last night for our trip to the UK today.

Pleasantly surprised by the foreground bokeh in this!

Day Thirty-Five

So, my challenge this week is to take a High Key portrait - a bright, 'happy, happy, joy, joy' kinda shot.

I could think of nothing happier than a grinning, gurgly, baby for the photo and what a way to start the week - by completing my challenge!

Rosie decided today was apparently not that kind of day.

Maybe tomorrow...

Day Thirty-Four

ROYGBIV Week - 'Violet'

Managed my first ever snowflake shot!!

And luckily it was on a lilac scarf to fit with my rainbow theme for this week.

Setting myself a theme to follow was fun and definitely made me think a little more about possible shots that could be set up, as well as helping me find set ups that just don't work as well in reality as they do in your head!

And so I want to ask you, if you feel so inclined, to think of some other weekly themes I could follow over the coming months. :o)

Next week I fly to the UK with Rosie for a two week visit to see family and friends so it's away from the snow - hopefully - to some very different scenery so am looking forward the kinds of photos I'll be able to take while I'm there!

Day Thirty-Three

ROYGBIV Week - 'Indigo'

A pair of purple wearing princesses for today.
I took so many shots of them but this was my favourite.
I love just how excited Evie is about being with her little sister!

Day Thirty-Two

ROYGBIV Week - 'Blue'

A new month begins and so I'm featuring the rubik's cube that inspired the project to begin with.
